Tameka was a single mom who was getting county assistance. The county required that she find employment, and it gave her a referral to Dress for Success for interview outfits. Tameka was so impressed with the quality of the clothing selection that this gave her the confidence that she needed to land the interview and get the job. Currently, Tameka owns her own cosmetic company and has come a long way with Dress for Success Twin Cities; she is now in a position to provide makeovers to clients and give them professional headshots.

Tameka has created an empire on her own terms and in her own way. She is a small business owner who has been recognized again and again for her hard work and efforts to create a natural lipstick line that not only makes women look good but feel fantastic about themselves. She is an example to many — our clients included — as she uses her platform to share the good work we do and gives back to her home and community in an effort to lift others out of poverty.
