I am excited to engage in this campaign because it gives me the opportunity to actively make a positive impact in the world. It aligns with my personal journey to always strive for progress and create meaningful change.
Muriel found Dress for Success Atlanta as she indefatigably pursued light through the dark, often unrealistic, and confusing maze of social support services in Atlanta. She has committed herself to healing and thriving following incarceration, reentry challenges, being unhoused, exploited, and alone.
Muriel started coming to classes to learn to be more proficient in Microsoft Office, build her resume, set up her LinkedIn profile, learn how to job search effectively, and most importantly, be in community. At Dress for Success Atlanta, she felt safe to share her journey thus far. She demonstrated courage and faith in a future she had yet to see clearly or have the words to describe, but she bore witness to the truth that so many of us have walked dark and lonely paths and rediscovered hope, sought redemption, and became the authors of the many chapters still unwritten. At Dress for Success Atlanta, Muriel strengthened her voice with the power of our community and became a better advocate for herself and others. She started to rediscover her passion for writing, renewed her commitment to serve and be a connector, and began her blog and memoir. Muriel embodies the infinite potential of a woman empowered.
She is now safely housed. A graduate of Project Restart and Hire Hope, Muriel is currently employed as an Employment Specialist apprentice with Randstad and earned her Social Services Assistant certification from Kennesaw State University. She is also a nominee on the Resilience Education Community Advisory Board, a passionate resource coordinator, and dedicated community advocate. Muriel is now starting her own resource coordination nonprofit called Sources of Light, to ensure that countless others can make it through the darkness.
