Crystal is a woman on a mission to become self-reliant. A woman with purpose. After receiving state benefits for most of her adult life as a single mother, Crystal knew it was time to step into a different path. A path of hope, meaning, and opportunity. Crystal’s first step was her application for the EducateHER - Pathways Program for Single Moms. Crystal thrived through the program, using all Dress for Success services to land in her current role and preparing herself for the next chapter, as a nursing student.

Crystal connected with Dress for Success Phoenix at a community event for single mothers. At the time, she was introduced to our services, but due to life circumstances, she was not ready to take the next step. In 2019, her oldest child started to struggle with mental health issues and ended up being hospitalized over 15 times with long-term stays. By 2021, she was working around 50 hours a week at a minimum-wage job just to support her daughters and keep up with her apartment. In 2022, she started her journey back to school.

Crystal applied for the EducateHER- Pathways Program for Single Mom’s and was accepted to pursue her LPN certificate. Crystal has also gained economic independence and is now living on her own with her children.
